  1. I thought it was fair. Except exam 2 number patterns were annoying and confusing.

I stuffed up my exam 1
lost like 4 marks due to recording and silly errors.

  2. It was okay, I thought it was easier during reading time but it becomes harder once you actually start to do it! It was alright I did 3,4,5, the networks section was a bit tough, but all in all okay I guess. I hope I did well but then I thik of all those smart specialist kids who do further because its “easy”, life is so unfair for people who are not smart at maths

  3. Reasonably easy. I was quite shocked at how easy core data analysis was. Was expecting some de/seasonalising data etc.

  4. Exam 1 was good.

Exam 2 was iffy… some of it was ok, some was harder :( i hope i did good! i couldn;t get the formula for compound interest rate in mod.4 :( but it was ok..

  5. Any answers for the last question on module 3? Was it (33,51) because the ‘x’ had to be a multiple of 3? :S

  6. It was harder then expected; particularly the first one.
The second one wasn’t as bad, but it had some “iffy” questions which should be reviewed by the examiners in my opinion…
Overall it wasn’t too horrible though.
    Goodluck to everybody!

  7. I didn’t find it hard,
    exam 1 was easy-moderate
exam 2 was much easier than i expected except some questions, which i had to take a few extra minutes to sort out.
I had just enough time to complete it and glance over my questions.
Overall not that bad at all!

  8. I thought that exam 2 was pretty easy overall, although there were one or two difficult questions.

in particular, the last question in graphs and relations was at first hard to interpret, (with two types of pillows taking the value x). i got a final revenue of 8 thousand and something for that question.
in networks and decision maths there was one hard eular path question regarding a bike race, which was hard to work out. i think i got 32 or 33 for that.

matrices was pretty straight forward although time consuming as you had to keep multiplying a transition by a spectators matrix. finally,

the core was also straight forward, with one weird question on extrapolation.

  9. Okay, so I average about 65% in my SACS so clearly I struggle a bit but I found core for exam 1 and 2 really, really difficult! I aced business maths and networks in the first exam… I got everything right!

Number patterns was a lot more challenging in the second exam but I can only hope for the best!

3 exams down, 3 to go!!

  10. It was alright, I thing I got about 80% of it, some iffy questions I agree that certainly must be reviewed! MATHS OVER FOR LIFE WOOOHOO!!!

  11. I thought both exams were pretty good.
However in exam 1 it was definitely more wordier…and question 1-3 in core were very time consuming for 1 mark apiece

Exam 2 was really good…did anyone get for maximum profit (for only the two pillows not three) to be something like $9400? – linear

  12. Hi there, anyone know the answer for the question re what fraction of the 22 countries have a higher percentage than australia

  13. it was all right, does anyone know the answer to the the last geometry and trig question?. i got something like 7.7 ish. is this right?

  14. I thought exam 1 was reasonably easy, but when I looked back I realised I made a lot of silly mistakes.
Exam 2 was much easier, but theres 1 or 2 questions I’m unsure about.. thats 3 marks at stake.

  15. trig for both exams was hard, i regret not doing business but networks and matrices should pay off, what did everyone else get as a % percentage on the first exam?

  16. brandon on said:

    hey,
yeah for the last question for trig i got 7.75.
you had to use similar triangles and work out that part of the height was 3.25, then add on the 4.5 giving you a total of 7.75 =)

  17. Hey guys

Thought both exams weren’t too bad. Silly mistakes will kill me though as usual.
i got 32 for that Networks question.
ah 7.75 i think for that trig question.
had a feelin that first fraction question was 1/2 dunno.
Had a bit of time to go back through but nothin major.
    Good luck all

  18. I think I got like 80% for both my exams(the sum)….so what would my enter be??

  19. sighsigh on said:

omg…..i hate the last trig question….
and what did you guys get for the last questions for matrices?

  20. Catherine on said:

Yeah i got about 7.7 too. Did you use similar figures to work it out?

  21. Candice on said:

exam too was sooo much easier! I know I got the first question right haha so I’m happy.

  22. Does anyone knowthe answer for the question what fraction of the 22 countries have a higher percentage than australia? Is is 11/22 or 11/21. Please reply

  23. Vidya, I got 11/22. Pretty sure the 0 still counted

  24. For the last question on trig, you don’t use similar triangles but similar shapes, do 95/65 times by the smallest edge of 4.5 or whatever which gives you 6.58.
Both exams were pretty good, a little bit more challenging then previous, which is good to get a good spread of results. I didn’t actually do number patterns on Exam2, and never studied it, but i didn’t think it looked as bad as others have said.

Stuffed the first question on Exam1 up- got the right answer of 110 then went back to check it and did 37% of 400 instead of 300 which is really annoying but anyway.

  25. i thought the multiple choice was really good! though i went online and checked with other people’s answers and i think i got around 80%… but i’d be happy with that… the second exam i thought was ok, core was a snap but graphs and relations was a killer… i honestly think i would have lost the full 9 marks for that one… it’s a bit frustrating considering i got 90% for that sac and all year i’ve averaged around 90%… matrices and networks were both surprisingly easy! but just that graphs and relations! i think i brought that upon myself though… maths i must admit was neglected…

  26. omg that is a good question. did not even think about that

Anyone wanting to check their answers for the exam, check out the website iTute. Very pleased with my results.

  28. does anyone know if/when we can get answers???!!!

  29. answers for exam 1- http://www.itute.com/wp-content/uploads/2010-vcaa-further-mathematics-exam-1-solutions.pdf

    answers for exam 2- http://www.itute.com/2010/11/04/free-download-2010-vcaa-further-mathematics-examination-2-solutions/

  30. The multiple choice questions- Networks … easy
    Trig was ridiculously hard
Statistics i managed but those questions were way harder than past exams
Graphs and relations i knew i would fail that section regardless
    i reckon 60 percent

Second exam the same 60 percent

Further maths just gets harder every year because of all the methods people doing it.. not fair

  31. haha well of course methods student might do further too, if your slightly strong at maths why not play at your strengths and do two maths subjects. after all VCE is just a massive competition.

  32. I know this is abit to late but i am a year nine student and i am attempting to do year 11 general maths in year 10 then move to year 12 further in year 11.Is it a pretty demanding subject im so confused on what to do :(

  33. Would you say that this exam was easier or harder then 2008??
    Good luck for tomorrow everyone!!!
