VCE help radio - VCE English podcast

VCE english podcastWe are just 1 week away from launching yet another fantastic initiative called “VCE Help Radio”. VCE Help Radio is a brand new radio program that you can listen to as a podcast on your iPod and also streaming through the VCE help website.

Here’s how it works:
- Each month we interview a leading teacher, presenter, VCE examiner, motivational speaker etc on the subject areas that YOU are interested in.
- We pepper them with questions on areas that VCE students need more information on. As the interviewer I am led by the questions and comments that you as readers leave on the website (under the comments section).
- After the interview I will edit the radio content and upload to the website ready for the VCE help community.

So…what do you need to do from here?

With the brand new VCE english curriculum many students have a number of questions and concerns about VCE English. So who can help you? We can of course…

In the comments section below write out any question or concern that you may have about Unit 3 VCE English. A list of topics could be areas like A+ essay writing, information on a particular text, tips on sac preparation, what to expect on the end of year exam etc etc. As you read through the other comments/questions before you feel free to comment on the other topics listed before it.

Please enter in your name and email address (used so we can give you the credit) as well as your specific question below. The more questions we can ask, the more quality information we can help you out with.

It takes me quiet a while to think about how I can structure my essays so I’m often running out of time by the end of the SAC. A majority of the time, my English teachers often comment that I should ‘think and write quicker’. So apart from practicising on writing different types of essays, how can I achieve this?

    Hi Mary!
My advice to you is to know your stuff in other words study whatever the SAC is going to be about. Once you know the topic well enough. The second most crucial thing is to plan your essay. Not only will it give you a basic outline of your intro, main points and conclusion, it also should flow better than if you weren’t going to plan. Another tip is to practise different topic questions, it can give you heaps more practise; trust me. I’m currently in yr12 as well and i’m still struggling with thinking and writing quicker. It’s hard but we can pull through if you follow these tips. Best of Luck!

    Hey

I was wondering what style of writing and structure examiners are really looking for. There seems to be very mixed responses…Also how can you ensure that A plus, what kind of preparation can you do from year 11. Also with your contention is it best to take a unique angle? Thankyou so much for the help, it is much appreciated =]

    Hi

What exactly is the difference between an intro and conclusion in an English essay? I was told both have to include broad statements that summarise your main points. So is there any difference at all?

    Thanks

All I can say is WOW! I’ve just completed an hour long interview with Ross Huggard who is VCE english author, examiner and lecturer.

All VCE english students will need to have a listen to this podcast when it becomes available (give me a few days as I need to edit and upload the podcast).

Ross gave some fantastic strategies to help you prepare for VCE English sacs and the end of year exam. He also put to bed many common concerns about the VCE English course and how to achieve high marks. Stay tuned - I will upload the podcast soon!
