Hi all,
Congratulations on finishing the Unit 3 VCE Accounting exam for 2012. What did you think of the paper? What was hard? What was easy? How do you think you went?
Let us know your thoughts and comments below (please keep them clean – all comments are moderated!)…cheers

Q4 was hard and not enough time
Question 1 was a joke
it was hard considering the amount of time we had which was not enough, i skiped three questions (question,4,9,5so i think ive already lost 15 marks, oh well.
So it wasn’t just me who got a Net Loss on 6c.
Q4 screwed me right up to start with. I’ve been getting 90%’s on SACs for Unit 3 so something that seemed in reading time so simple shouldn’t have screwed me up that much.
Was it just me too or on Q1 where you had the $15,000 of plants and $4,000 was owing still it was $11,000 Stock Conrol, $4,000 Creditors Control, $4,000 Box Nursery (subsiduary) and the infomation about the overdraft omitted?
It was a very tough paper to get done within the time, although whats going to happen now Unit 3 will no longer have a seperate exam and its just a combined 3/4 exam?
i thought there was plenty of time to finish the exam. i know i finished with 10mins to go. you just have to be confident in your answers and not sit there dwelling on them
omg the exam was soo hard!! my theory answers lacked depth and i didnt do q4 and q9!! D,:
i wud be lucky even with a C..): there goes a study score of 40 down the drain..
I only did 5 questions and one and a half in question 5, i would be happy even if with a C ):
one and a half in question 6*
Ya Jordan that wasn’t right cause there were two months at the original cost.
anywhere we can get the answers to the practical work?
Hi all! Exam was ugly. I finished with 15 minutes left which allowed me to check over question 4. That was a nasty one though. The exam overall was pretty easy but I don’t think my theory questions were all that good though. I spose that when nerves kick in my language went a bit off.
Let us know when the solution are out.
Also does anyone know when we will receive our results?
Hi everyone!
We get our results around the start of August i think
Q1 would have been $15,000 for stock and $4,000 for Creditors as you had $15,000 worth of stock, just yet to pay for $4,000 of it.
Box Nursery went in the SL.
Thanks Emily. It’s gonna be the longest month and a half of my life
is it just me, or is anyone else happy that other people bombed out too?
I just hope the cut-off for an A+ is really low!
yeah , i havn’t seen anything like q4 in the past exams! :S and yes q1 was preety tricky to figure out too!
to be honest, i thought the exam was overall easy, Haileybury prepared me well, time was the issue. thought vcaa was stupid having supplied trials that we all finished with heaps of time left and then they hit us with this. finished it all but didnt have time to check which wasn’t good. cant wait to get the results back though. no ive made two stupid practical mistakes so far, Q1 doing it as a commencement of double entry and including bank and loan, and just a slight miscalculation on the cash flow statement while rushing

With question 4 when it aske for the amount if advertisig paid did we have to include the GST that is charged with it since when we PAY for advertising we pay the GST aswell, but when calculating the expense for year ended June ignore the GST? Found q 1 really tricky probably the biggest derp didn’t pick up the creditor -.- and the trial balance it didn’t state pre or post?! Mucked up the adjustments for income statement also didn’t finish left 6 marks out
Heres the solutions

Loving the fact i got question 4 and 9 right
that exam was hard, the time limit for all those questions was not enough
Overall thought it was pretty easy, as long as you studied enough it meant you could adapt to harder questions. Those of you complaining it obviously means you didn’t study enough. I did 50 practice exams so when I got in to the exam room I was just like “another exam ain’t no big thing”. I will be surprised if I dropped more than three marks. And question 4 was easy!!!!!!!
Hey, For the multiple choice question with the dbs patient, does anyone know if it was a case study
thank you soo much! i really needed this!
Tricky exam which I could’ve managed if there was more time. As another person stated, I feel our examiners also did a poor job. Reading time went 5 minutes too long, 5 minute warning given 2 minutes before we were instructed to place pens down which was promptly on 4:30. Pretty surprised there was no cash vs profit as I was left under the impression from my teacher and revision that it would certainly be featured.
I find it pretty straight forward but long. Didn’t get to finish or go through the whole thing but, i don’t think we’ll ever get that for anything. Question 4 surely is the hardest because of the change of arrangement and all… Lack of time to think over really
what do u think will be the cut off for an A+ or A this year, please do answer if u know.
75.5 out of 90
got an A+
Holman,
How do you know that you got 75.5 out of 90. Where do you find that out. I only got my grade.
i still remember it as being the hardest exam i have done! its weird that i found physics easier than this….
