Share your experience and knowledge – VCE English help
By Heath McGregor on Oct 31, 2009 in VCE English
Hi all,
Congratulations to all the VCE English students who have finished that monstrous 3 hours English exam. It’s a huge effort (and I’m sure a huge relief too!) as you shift focus to your other subjects in the next few weeks.
As I’m sure you can appreciate this website provides a lot of resources for VCE English and other subjects and perhaps if we have helped you out in some way shape or form, can we ask you a small favour?
With the VCE English exam still fresh in your mind (I know some of you don’t want to even go there!) it’s a good opportunity for you to share your thoughts/experiences and perhaps your notes, practice essays etc for next years VCE English students.
For example; What strategies worked for you? What did you find helpful or not? What was it like sitting a 3 hour exam? etc
In the past some students have emailed through their essays, summary notes and the like (such as former VCE English student, Emma Roache). If you would like to contribute some VCE English material please see our guest contributor guidelines for more information or simply unleash your VCE English knowledge on the VCE help community below. ![]()
Good luck for the rest of your VCE exams…will be in touch soon with more info.
Cheers,
Heath

the english exam was a shock horrow experiance!!!!
As many of you know the exam went for 3hrs and suprisingly the 3hrs went extremely quickly!!!!
advice to students would be to keep to a time limit, you can lose yourself very easily, make sure you bring a watch and time yourself! this is essential!!!
keep dooing those practice essays
thank god its over for the class of 09!!!!

i did ESL but there was not a huge difference.
My suggestion is divide ur exam into parts, like 70′ for text response, 55 for each context + lang. analysis. That helps heaps for u to complete the whole big thing!
It’s over!!!! yayayyyyyy

i thought it was good
we did poetry for our class and the question was gold! haha
advice? know your quotes…i remembered 3 pages and i tell you what, i used almost every single one of them. they are really good to emphasise a point and back up an argument. but make sure you talk about them! don’t just simply state them.
also time limit. i would say get the language analysis over quickly.
i spent 30-40 mins of lang. analysis, approx 1 hour for text A and the rest for text B (context)
